First days at National Institute of Technology, Tiruchirapalli

Hey all!! I arrived at NIT Trichy on the 24th of July to join the Mechanical Engineering stream. The campus is actually quite far from the city, a drive of 45 minutes on bad roads. I’ve been assigned room number 39 in “Coral” hostel. I stayed in Trichy city in a hotel with my parents on 23rd and 24th. The campus is huge!! Bought a new bicycle to get around the place (a Hercules Matrix! Sounds fancy?). This is a REALLY hot place- and I’m only talking about the temperature here! Staying in a room meant for 3 people but they’ve crammed 4 of us in there! One of my room mates is a Bangalore guy who stayed in Fiji for a while. The other 2 are from the north. Decent guys. We’ve formed a sort of gang which mostly includes guys from rooms 39 and 40. We converse almost exclusively in Hindi here. I’m afraid I’ll forget English if that continues!!

Food is served in “B” mess. It’s edible (though they once served us watery gobi manchurian which they expected us to eat with chapati!!). Packed plenty of snacks from home. I’m supposed to eat a fruit everyday so I’ll pick up am apple from the shop on my way back to the hostel. In the Trichy city hotel where I stayed with my parents I ordered a paper dosa. Believe it or not, it came as a cone that was 2 feet high!!! No kidding, I even got a picture of it!!

Plenty of space to play here. Played football in front of “Agate” hostel yesterday. Scored in my first ever game here :-) . Hopefully that created a good impression! I’m planning to try my luck with NSO (National Sports Organisation) for football. I’ll have to deal with seniors for that though! It’s either that or NCC (National Cadet Corps). The gym seems decent enough. I’ll try joining soon. Swimming pool opens on August 1st.

There’s no means of entertainment here apart from sports! Nobody owns a laptop yet and we haven’t got a T.V. in the hostel! We manage by playing cards late into the night. Planning to teach the guys Mafia soon.

Ragging hasn’t happened yet, although we keep hearing rumours of a few 1st years getting slapped! The security guards (who all claim to be ex army folks) keep ensuring us nobody will get ragged. We all had to sign a few hostel forms before being allotted a room. The forms referred to us as “inmates”!!

I’ll admit I’m feeling a bit homesick but I’m sure I’ll get used to this place! :-)

My Bucket List

Hello again!

Quite some time since my last post... I guess i just wasn't in the writing mood!!
It's been a really long holiday.... full of days and days of endless loaf and i must say I'm definitely enjoying it all!

I was thinking about what my next post should be about... and i hit upon the idea of making a bucket list- you know... things i definitely want to do in life. So here goes!!

1. Direct a movie.
2. Work at a fast food restraunt.
3. Bungee jump.
4. Work as a U.N. volunteer in a war zone.
5. Save an endangered species.
6. Date a dentist ad a Chartered Accountant! (I really don't know why!!)
7. Visit the Amazon rainforest.
8. Go on a photography expedition to Africa.
9. Visit all the wonders of the world.
10. Buy a German shepherd.
    
11. Own a superbike.
12. Volunteer as a relief worker after a natural disaster.
13. Be on T.V.
14. Build a remote controlled vehicle.
15. Join an environmental protection NGO.
    

A note on Christiano Ronaldo- For everyone who hates him!

This is to vent my feelings about that piss off named christiano ronaldo--
Ok so in 2003 alex ferguson spotted talent in this 18 year old Sporting Clube de Portugal kid who we all know about and bought him for £12.24 million. Now big jackass that we all know fergie is, he gave ronaldo the number 7 shirt, previously worn by legends (yes i admit there were legends at manchester united) george best, Bryan robson, eric cantona, and david beckham (he was brilliant in the old days).

So he showed a bit of talent in the beginning of his stint at manu. But very soon his dirty tactics and extremely negative attitude on the field began to show. Of course there are his infamous dives but lets look at a few other incidents too. sample this--
During a quarter-final match against england on 1 July 2006,ronaldo's manu teammate wayne rooney was sent off for stomping on Portugal defender ricardo carvalho. The english media speculated that ronaldo had influenced the referee's decision by aggressively complaining, after which he was seen in replays winking at the portuguese bench following rooney's dismissal.

About his infamous diving i quote Oscar Wilde speaking about ronaldo “Stepover, stepover, dive, roll around, scream in agony, call referee, get player sent off, wink...”

Before each match , ronaldo goes through a number of elaborate rituals. He greases his body with oil. This allows him to slip by opponents with ease like an eel. Another ritual includes offering sexual favours to the referees just before the match starts. If they are not interested, ronaldo tries to make them look stupid by pretending to get seriously injured and watching opposition players receiving yellow and red cards. His speciality is the 'dying swan dance' as if someone in the crowd has just fire a crossbow bolt at him. Thirty five of his forty two goals came from penalties & freekicks that he won by diving.

Soon after the world cup the allure of big money made him want to jump to real madrid. Fergie actually had to beg and plead with him to keep him in the team. He's said many times that he wants to leave, real is his dream club, he doesn't care about upsetting fergie. Quite obviously this made him quite unpopular with his team mates too. Well i believe that disrespecting the club that made your life and moreover disrespecting your manager is one of the worst things a footballer can do. Not stopping at that ronaldo even went so far as to say that fergie used the wrong tactics in the champions league finals! well if that arrogant young prick thinks he can do better why didn't he tell fergie on the face to change tactics during halftime??

Now many of you might think i am writing this because i have something very personal against manu. Well let me tell you that i don't!! I respect manu for the great opposition that it is and for all their victories. I also respect players like giggs who give their heart and soul for the game and for their club.

Now the real boss wants to pay 80 million for this screwed up faggot. That's more than zidane!! Now please don't try to tell me that ronaldo deserves to be bought for that much! I must say i feel pity for all those brainwashed and helpless kids who believe that ronaldo is a hero!

This idiot is an insult to the glorious game of football and i hope he DIES!!

Hello everyone!
Just want to introduce myself a bit. I am from Bangalore , India. Football is my passion and I support Arsenal FC (GUNNERS FOREVER :-D ). I like photography too and I'm also a keen environmentalist. Besides that i like to debate and discuss current affairs. I'm quite a wildlife enthusiast too.
As far as music is concerned Metallica and Coldplay rule. The Shawshank Redemption is by far the best movie in the world.
